Process and preparation
Process and preparation
The statutory stages, and sensible preparation while the official requirements are awaited.
Statutory assessment stages
- 1
Application to the Agency
Applications are made to the Agencia de Programas de Ciudadanía por Inversión. The practical submission channel, and any role for agents, are pending confirmation.
- 2
Investment check
The Agency assesses whether the investment qualifies as “relevant” under Ministry of Economy rules.
- 3
Security and background checks
The Agency consults bodies including the Ministry of Security, the UIF, the Registro Nacional de Reincidencia, RENAPER and SIDE, then sends a reasoned report to the Dirección Nacional de Migraciones.
- 4
Migration authority decision
The Dirección Nacional de Migraciones decides within 30 working days of receiving the Agency's report. This is one stage only, not the total processing time.
- 5
Contribution or investment
Timing relative to approval, and payment instructions, are pending confirmation.
- 6
Grant of citizenship
Formal granting of citizenship to approved applicants.
- 7
Passport application
A separate administrative stage after citizenship.
Stage order beyond what the decree specifies is indicative and pending confirmation.
